I’m considering myself lucky right now! We are having a series of Storms in
California this week and here in the Central Valley! It’s only Tuesday and we have had lots of rain already. I did lose my willow tree this morning! Luckily it fell towards the street and not my home. Good news no cars were driving by at the time! Better news the San Joaquin country road service was quick to respond and to get the street cleared. Thank you. This afternoon another storm rolls in! Check out the weather channel to see whats happening near you. Still riding the storm out!
We can save energy and save money! I think October is a great month for energy awareness! Now that fall is settling in and the cooler months are upon us! How we can save energy and save money? Here are some simple tips that we can all use……..…Install a programmable thermostat to keep your home comfortable set your thermostat at 68 degrees during the day and 55 degrees is recommended for night time in the winter months! Make sure to clean or replace the filters. Lower the thermostat on your water heater. Insulate around doors and windows! Use fluorescent light bulbs…..Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes. If you have a dishwasher air dry dishes instead of using the drying cycle. If you’re going to be away for a couple of days unplug electronic devices like TVs, DVD players and Cable boxes to make it easy on yourself be sure that your devices are plugged into a power strip! (For one finger turn off)…….The U.S. Housing Department suggests a home energy audit. Homeowners can conduct a “do it” yourself energy audit at http://hes.lbl.gov sponsored by the U. S. Department of Energy, the home energy saver is there to help consumers identify the best ways to save energy and locate resources to make saving energy a reality.
I don’t know about any one else but I’m ready for a long weekend! With gas prices around the $3.00 dollar range here in the San Joaquin Valley. We have decided stay in town and enjoy some local events! The 28 th Annual Pow-Wow will be held at the University Of Pacific this weekend.. The New Stockton 99 Speedway Tri- Holiday Round #3 is Saturday September 5th, bring the kids there will be fireworks! I’m sure like most holiday weekends boating on the Delta will be exciting check out Lost Isle if your out on the Delta. What ever you’re doing this extended weekend Enjoy!
